What is the Central Iowa Celtic Festival©?

It is a way of celebrating Celtic culture and heritage. It includes entertainment and exhibits related to other aspects of Scottish, Irish and Welsh culture. If you or your ancestors emmigrated from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, The Isle of Man, Cornwall (Southwest England), Brittany (Northern France) or Galicia (Northern Spain) then you are likely descended from the Celts.  At the festival you will see performances by Scottish Highland Dancers & Celtic Music performers.

For those who are not familiar with the Celtic culture, Highland games are traditional competitions originating in the highland areas of Scotland and still held there and in other parts of the world where Scots have settled. The competition is best known for traditional competitive athletic heavy events.

Various clan societies will be in attendance. Guests can find out information about their Scottish roots and can become active in their own clan society if they wish.

Clans In Attendance This Year Include:

Buchanan, Campbell, Crawford, Davidson, MacLeod, Shaw, The Irish Clan of Greater Des Moines

Various vendors selling Scottish &Irish merchandise will also be present selling everything from Scottish & American food and beer and assorted Celtic apparel and jewelry.
